I installed the HWiNFO64 and shows the M.2 under System Slots and it says: PCI Express Gen 3 x1 Slot Usage - In Use Slot Data Bus Width - 1x / 1X Slot Lenght - Short I'm not sure why it says the M.2 slot is in use. I installed a GeForce 1050TI a while back but I'm assuming that using the PCIe x16 slot doesn't affect the M.2 slot in any way.
A question about PCIe lanes and how they are divided - ifixit.com when a mobo maker talks about having 24 PCIE lanes they are actually referring to HSIO. a HSIO is the same (sort of but not really) to a pcie lane. a mobo connects everything together. so a mobo maker will use 16 for the 16x pcie slot. they'll use 4 for ram. and 4 for all your sata ports, m.2 slots,usb connectivity and ethernet. thats a rough outline and not gospel as all mobo makers can ... Is there any difference between regular M.2 slot and M.2… However, M.2 slots tend not to be very plentiful. You might be better off to use a USB Wi-Fi adapter.
